WHAT IS HYDRO DEMOLITION?
Hydro demolition (also known as hydro blasting, hydro milling, water blasting & water milling) is a controlled demolition technique to remove concrete, asphalt, paint and other hard substances using ultra-high-pressure water jet.
Generally, this technique is preferred when there is a need to remove selected concrete without damaging the rebar and other important parts of the structure. Operators will select different pressures to suit each task.
WHY HYDRO DEMOLITION?
No damage to steel reinforcement – Unlike jackhammering, ultra-high waterjet is capable of removing unwanted concrete layers without causing micro-cracks, leaving structures undamaged and ready for re-use
Environmental compliance – While conventional methods involves a dusty process, hydro demolition on the other hand, uses wastewater that is easily collected and filtered to prevent cross-contamination. This ensures water is clean and debris-free before returning to the environment.
Economical – Hydro Demolition works faster and more efficient than other demolition processes. With certain economic advantages, it requires less operational downtime, meaning reduced the costs and increasing overall efficiency!
- To remove damage, failing and honeycombing concrete without damaging rebar
- To remove partial concrete depth while preserving embedded rebar
- Removing paint, epoxy and other coatings from concrete surfaces
- To prepare concrete surface for bonding with new concrete (both for wall and floor)
- To preserve expensive steel fabrication
